Lee Valley's young athletes have continued to train at home since lockdown began last March.

Ross O Donovan was one of the first coaches to hold online erg and circuit sessions for his group. This earned him a mention on the World Rowing website.

Many Lee Valley coaches have generously given their time and continue to coach their group online.

Recently the masters class have begun online training. Organised by Martyn Underhill and Ross O Donovan, many parents have taken up the challenge of mastering the rowing machine (erg) for the first time.

There is a rowing session on a Monday night at 7, and a circuit class, Wednesday night at 7. If you want to learn/improve your technique there is a class Friday at 7.

These classes are open to adults with a rowing machine and you do not need to be a member of the club.

It's never too late to try something new and rowing is a great way to get fit!

If you want to give it a go, you can contact Martyn Underhill (087 2232192) to receive a link to the class.

There was a great turnout last Wednesday night for the Zoom presentation on sports nutrition.

Many thanks to Rowing Irelands nutritionist, Leanne Varley who gave a very informative presentation to the club on the importance of diet for health and optimal performance in sport.

The presentation covered topics such as why we need different nutrients, what proportion of each is needed and how important timing meals is to improve your performance.
